Laksa King

Laksa King is a popular Malaysian restaurant located in Flemington. We have been here countless times and normally order the noodle dishes like the chicken laksa, char kway teow and fish head noodle soup. Laksa King doesn't disappoint and it is evident by the huge crowds it attracts. Plenty of on street parking makes it an attractive option as well. This time we had:

Fish head noodle soup - very much like the original version you would get in Malaysia, it comes with generous servings of fish head, tofu, pickled cabbage and rice vermicelli noodles. The broth is what makes this a standout; perfectly seasoned, milky and delicious.

Belachan kangkong - again, a very good version of what you would find in Malaysia. The belachan adds a nice flavour and kick to the water convolvulus. Well seasoned, it is crunchy and you definitely won't miss the "wok hei" in this dish.

Pepper Cafe

A very popular cafe in Flemington. Having frequented quite a few establishments in Flemington, Pepper was next on the list. Had only been there previously for coffee and it is always packed. We enjoyed our brunch and are looking forward to going back. We had:

The hygienic breakfast - fried eggs, with bacon, potato gratin, slow roasted tomato, button mushroom, baked beans, chorizo sausage and sourdough. Delicious. Perfectly fried eggs and deliciously rich potato gratin make this quite a standout among 'big breakfasts'.

Baked eggs - pork and fennel sausage and vegetable casserole with toasted birdseed sourdough. Eggs were perfectly cooked with the yolk still runny. Only negative is that the casserole could be a little thicker in consistency.

Wayo

A very good find. Simple neighbourhood Japanese located on Racecourse Rd in Flemington, Wayo offers delicious a la carte options done very well indeed.
Whenever we crave some delicious but reasonably priced Japanese fare, this is definitely our go-to place. Open for lunch or dinner, our favourite option is the Japanese hamburger steak with demi-glace sauce and an addition of either a poached egg or cheese. Simply divine, the sauce elevates the dish to a completely different level.
The chicken katsu dish is also a good option but to be honest, we have been there nearly ten times and ordered the hamburger steak nine of those times. A must try Japanese place, you will not be disappointed.
